Inshore Fishing Charters Out of Venice, Louisiana

I'm Captain Troy Wetzel. I take small groups into the marsh below Venice after redfish and speckled trout, on a shallow-draft 25-foot boat I run myself.

The Marsh, Not the Gulf

Shallow ponds, cuts, and drains behind the river. It is protected water, so wind matters less and seasickness rarely comes up.

Light Tackle

Spinning gear, live bait, and soft plastics. You feel every run.

Small Groups, One Boat

Up to four anglers, and I am the captain every trip.

Everything Is on the Boat

Rods, reels, tackle, bait, fuel, and fish cleaning. Bring a fishing license if you are 18 or older, and something to drink.

Guided Inshore Charters

The Blackjack, 25 ft

$1,000 for 1-2 people | $1,100 for 3 | $1,400 for 4 (fuel included)

Trips run 4 to 6 hours out of Venice, with rods, reels, tackle, bait, and fish cleaning included. Gratuity is not included.

Meet Captain Troy Wetzel

Captain Troy Wetzel and a guest each holding a large redfish on the bow of the boat on calm water

I have fished out of Venice for more than 25 years. Most of that was offshore, and I still run those trips, but the marsh is where I take people who want to actually catch fish and have never done it before. [TROY: confirm this is how you would say it]

Every trip is me at the wheel, and I will tell you honestly what the water is doing that day.
